Sea View House is close to some of the best beaches on the Isle of Harris, including Luskentyre beach.
Luskentyre Beach
A vast stunning sweep of shimmering white sands, with turquoise waters, Luskentyre is one of Scotland’s most celebrated beaches, with views views across to the small islands and the Atlantic. Look out for seals bobbing offshore, wading shorebirds, eagles soaring above the hills and the famous white ponies of Luskentyre.
Hushinish Beach
Hushinish is one of Harris’s most remote beaches. A sweep of silver sand framed by rugged machair and sculpted rock outcrops, it faces the Atlantic and offers expansive views across to the North Atlantic. Look out for seals and otters on nearby skerries, and seabirds riding the coastal winds.
Scarista Beach
Scarista Beach is one of Harris’s most spectacular stretches of sand — a long, wide ribbon of pale sand backed by gently shifting dunes and framed by the vivid blues and greens of the Outer Hebrides sea. Renowned for its expansive views, the beach faces west, making it a superb spot for dramatic sunsets and wide horizons that seem to go on forever.
Seilebost Beach
Seilebost is a long, white-sand beach known for its wide, gently sloping shoreline and clear, often turquoise waters. Fringed by machair and low dunes, the beach offers expansive views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides and is particularly striking at low tide when the broad sands and shallow pools reflect the sky.
Horgabost beach
Broad stretches of soft sand are framed by low dunes and rocky headlands. The beach faces west, making it a superb spot for late-afternoon light and dramatic sunsets. Access via the camp site with limited parking.
Northton Beach
Northton beach offers a quietly spectacular combination of wild coastline, white sand beaches and a short, rewarding walk to a unique piece of island history: the Temple. Sheltered by the bay and framed by rugged headlands, the sand is fine and the water impressively clear, often a startling aquamarine on bright days.
Always take local advice and check the tides before sea swimming or watersports.
